Eating Smart | 7. Eating on the Run

Eating Smart

TIPS

  • Instead of stopping at the donut shop, stop at a bagel bakery. Order low-fat spreads flavored with fruit or herbs.

  • Eating breakfast out is challenging. Order cereals, english muffins or bagels with jam, omelets with vegetables made from egg substitute, ham and fresh fruit.

  • Avoid fried food! Foods which are breaded and fried can add 25 grams of fat per serving!

  • Eat a snack before going out for dinner. It may seem strange to eat before eating out, but hungry people do not make wise choices when faced with their favorite vices.

  • Ask the waiter how the dish is prepared and order sauces on the side. Dip your fork in and taste them...This way you won't wear them.

  • Eat the french bread and bread sticks. Go easy on the butter and/or olive oil.

  • Eat half the meal and bring the rest home for tomorrow's lunch.
